Today we celebrate our NO.

It was 28 october of 1940, when the Italian
ambassador to Athens, Gratsi went to the home
of the president I. Metaxa, asked for free entrance
of the Italian forces on to Greece.
He immediately gave a negative reply
and with him the Hellenic people answered "oxi"(no).
The war began, the sirens sound, the enemy planes
flew over the skies of Greece, and
the Italian army was on Greek land.
After many fights the day of freedom
came in October of 1944.
Photos from the brass band of the Athens municipality.

In frond of the Parliament.

I have two different versions of a guard
who is standing in frond of
the Parliament.
This traditional dress it is relational to
the greek revolution of 1821.
We called this guard tsolia (τσολιά).
Οn Saturday we have our national celebration
and these days I will have an oblation.

What I am looking from my window.

This post is dedicated to Kris.
Every morning when I open my window
I see my house's garden.
Let my explain you some things about my house:
I live on the second floor,my parents live
on the first floor and my grandmother on the groundfloor.
Are you suprised?
In Greece we usually live near our parents.
The ground floor as well as this garden,
they are constracted in 1954 by my grandfather,
it was the 5th house of Peristeri
-now Peristeri is one of the most
populate areas of Athens.

An old factory.

One of the factory of Gazi outside and inside.
Gazi it means gas .
So with this explanation you can imagine
the production of the factory.
Inside we can find many old ovens -
now they are decorated with candles.

The juggler

This photo from Gazi festival,
reminds me the following lyrics:
Cause your eyes, your eyes they burn like fire.
And your eyes, your eyes they burn like fire.
..
Α juggler present his prowess playing with fire.

Athens trolley.

This is the second photo of Gazi walls.
Now you can see how our trolleys looks like...
When I have time I prefer to take the trolley ,
I am standing on the window and
I observe the people and the buildings and
I create my own 'moving' world.

I am the iron man.

An iron man destroys cars!
Is that bad?
All the concept is to use the
public transport and specialy the trolleys.
This wall is in the trolley depot in Gazi area.
In Gazi these days there is a comic festival,
many concerts and events.
You will see more at my next posts.

From one hill to the other.

The centre of the Athens has two beautiful hills:
the first one is the Acropolis
well known for the temple of Parthenon
and the other one is the Lycabetous
with the famous church of St.George.
This is the view from Acropolis to Lycabetos.

Peregrination to the Athens.

It's the title of the exchibition created by
the municipality of Athens
and gives you the answer to my last competition!
In Heraklidon street, near to the Acropolis you can find
in a 'natural size' an old neighbourhood.
The houses and the stores are copies from the
originals houses and stores of the decade 1930-1940.
Yesterday I posted a barber -shop and
today you can see a drug-store and a hat store.
So magiktrill well done!
Send me your adress to :selana1802@yahoo.gr.
Thank you all for the participation and when you will
come to Athens it's a good idea to visit the exchibition
-the entrance is free!

It isn't a photo from a greek island...
It is Artemis beach well known
as Loutsa beach just 2klm from the Athens airport.
Loutsa is the paradise for the surfers
