The palm tree .
This palm tree decorate the pavement of Panepistimiou street .Panepistimiou street is a main street that leads in Omonoia square .There is a very sad story about palm trees in Athens :
at the previous century (1920 -1925 ) our goverment had decided to uproot many palm trees , because this tree brings back exotic countries and they didn't want to consider Greece as an exotic place !

interesting - palm trees here cost a lot of money so no one would even imagine uprooting them - I guess its value is relative to where you live
