HOLIDAYS Again !

After one week of work , with this hot sunny days in Athens , a visit to an island is necessary .I will go to Tinos island ,wish me many shots!

Mona Lisa

What about a cruise with Mona Lisa?
This photo is taken from my work,my window has an interesting view : the biggest port of Greece,the port of Pireas.
Every day I see many ships passing by this is remarkable as the funnel has the picture of Mona Lisa.

 

'Olyve 'Oyl'

Today I have for you another photo from Pireos avenue.This is my favourite wall ,another excellent work of street art dedicated to olive oil.
The building behind belongs to the company 'ELAIS' a very famous greek brand of olive products.

 

The story of olive .

In Greece we are very 'connected' with olive tree : the olive tree holds a
prominent position in our gastronomy,tradition,history and economy .
This wall describes the production of olive oil and it is situated near the center of Athens ,in Pireos avenue .I think that this art team has a great talent !
This is only a part of their work !

 

H O L I D A Y S !

Me and my camera , we apologise for our photoblog absence but we were very busy these days as we are going holidays (not with this boat ). We are going to visit Paros , an island close to Athens (3 hours by boat) and a lovely place that combines everything. This is a taste of Paros from my previous visit on May. We will be back at the end of the next week.

Sometimes , I like to shot no ordinary places. Here I am in a construction area close to Alexandras avenue .Maybe some of the workers had paint this construction stuff.I love the yellow the orange and the red arrow that leads nowhere. I took two shots - the fist one is the 'normal '.Have a great weekend !  

The palm tree .

This palm tree decorate the pavement of Panepistimiou street .Panepistimiou street is a main street that leads in Omonoia square .
There is a very sad story about palm trees in Athens :
at the previous century (1920 -1925 ) our goverment had decided to uproot many palm trees , because this tree brings back exotic countries and they didn't want to consider Greece as an exotic place !
Yes, we are idiots ...

A different Botero .

This summer it is dedicated to Botero , as the National Gallery and the Concert Hall exchibit his fine work .I saw his paints only by coffe -table books and believe me it is not enough...
I went to the National Gallery and I found his whimsical depiction of rotund people , the caracteristic of his paints that gives them a pleasant comic quality.But I found something else , something different , I saw a Botero with a radical change I am talking about his latest series of 50 drawings and paintings depicting the torture of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib (second photo ) and I was socked.
His work is very powerfull don't miss !
