Photo festival.

September is our month!
Is the month of the photo-lovers
In Athens they are many photo exchibitions but
the most interesting is the photographic meeting in Kythira island.
The meeting is accompanied by
exchibitons,seminars,competitions
and the beauty of the island.
I am leaving tomorrow morning.
I have never been in Kythira before and
I am so anxious...!

 

F for fire.

Just a detail from the ship building yard of the port .
There you can find old buildings,
rust and interesting themes for photos.
I notice the red box with the letter F.
This box contains a fire extinguiser
in case of fire.

 

Marathon.

Marathon is the site of the battle of Marathon
in 490 BC in which the Athenian army
defeated the Persians.
This beach is the cost were the ships of the Persians anchored.
A legentary run of a messanger named Phidipides
from Marathon toAthens,
after the battle formes the basis for the modern-day marathon race.
The messanger when he arrived in Athens
he shouted 'NEKIKAMEN' (we were victorius) and died.
When I was a child, I was very touched by this story.

 

Tinos red carpet.

And now I have the answer that you are waiting...
This red carpet begins from the port of the Tinos island
and terminates at the big church of the island dedicated to Madonna.
The icon of the church it is thaumaturge and many people visit the
island for a pray to the Madonna.
The believers crawl on their kness ...
All the pavement it is decorated with pebbles on a beach and this work is
done by the locals artists.
Tinos except from the churches it has an old famous art school.

So the winners are ....para pa pam ...

I made a gaffe !

All these days I have 0 comments...
I was little bit wondering...what happens ?

This photo is taken in Tinos island ,just 3 hours from Athens by boat.
I was in Tinos on August and I had a great time.

 

I shoot my self in a different place .

Where is the road I follow

It's under,under my feet
the sea spread out there before me.
Where do I go ,when land touches sea?
There is my trust in, what I believe.

That what keeps me,
that what keeps me down,
to leave,believe it,
leave it all behind.
...
I remembered this song 'Leave' of REM -it is one of my favourites.

 

For the pupils .

Tomorrow the school is going to start !
I hope the best for all the pupils.
This a photo of a nursery school in a small village
named Glossa in Skopelos island.
An habitant told me that this building is aged more than 60 years,
it doesn't have all the requisite materiel,
however the kids are
very happy going there .

In Thission area you can find the most beautiful old houses as the
one in the end of the street...
Many of them are forsaken ,though graffiti
makes them look interesting.
